Longline, or duster, coats have hit the stores in droves and to kick off the start of winter I’m road testing two bad boys via Forcast

FORCAST: Nova Coat, Prue Coat, Reagan Knit, Kaylee Midi Skirt, Eleni Scarf

Generally I’m a comfort over style kinda gal (worst fashion blogger ever :p) and so the length, and therefore coverage, of longline coats make them the perfect staple for me. But my favorite bit is the fact that they allow winter dressing 101: layering. With the temperamental weather we’ve been having I can easy pair over a tee one day or a chunky knit the next. The  lighter, softer fabrics also means no overheating or being weighed down (how HEAVY are some coats tho?!).

First up we have the NOVA coat which has become a go-to for work. I can throw this bad boy over a flared skirt and knit but still get a streamline look thanks to the cut. It also feels like felt, so that’s a bonus! And on warmer days I’ve style the coat as a top thanks to a belt and well placed safety pin. Versatile!

The PRUE longline coat has the classic features of a trench coat but with soft lines for an easy weekend look. As the fabric is quite billowy (is that a word?) my favorite part is the drawstring- hello waist!

If you’re new to the trend my take away tips are these:

1. #shortgirlproblems: Do not shy away if you’re petite- I’m only 160cm tall myself! Opt for either a structured coat in a lighter fabric such as the NOVA to streamline the look and pair over a uniform colour or high waisted pants and heels.

2. Add a statement: Be it a printed scarf, handbag or shoes an extra statement piece other than the coat itself means if you remove it (eff you four seasons in a day!) your outfit will still be cute!

Hope this helps treasure hunters! How will you wear your longline coat?
