During the recent click frenzy sales/madness/hysteria I found myself perusing for yet another pair of distressed denim. While honing in on a pair of step hem bad boys I realised they looked pretty much exactly like a pair of straight leg jeans I already owned- and had never been worn.

Shopping abandoned, I turned to Google for some tutorial inspo.

Wearing:
Old NEXT jeans
Forever New striped blouse (similar, similar)
Jeffrey Campbell heels (via Trade Secret) (similar)
Full disclosure: I had step by step photos for this DIY…and then accidentally deleted them all :|. Luckily, step-hem denim is one of the easiest to cut your teeth on (pun intended)! I’ve pulled some pic from Itsy Bitsy Indulgences Blog to help anyways (it’s the tute I used). Itsy Bitsy Indulgences Blog goes on the distress the jeans even further which I’d love to try later on, but for now:
1. Pick a pair of straight leg jeans, or skinnies that are a bit loose around the ankle.

2. Mark a line 3-5cm up from the hem- how high is really up to you though.

3. Cut up along the seam lines on either side and then across the leg.

4. Fray a little and you’re done!

Let me know if you give this a go!
